Kalliopi Karatzi

Dietician and Nutritionist

Dietician and Nutritionist and a Research and Teaching Associate of the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, Harokopio University of Athens, Greece.  She was awarded her BSC Degree in Dietetics and Nutrition Science in 1999 and she holds an MSc in Applied Dietetics with specialization in Clinical Dietetics and a PhD at Clinical Dietetics from Harokopio University Athens.

She is also a research associate of the Vascular Laboratory of the Department of Clinical Therapeutics and of the Cardiovascular Research Laboratory of the Internal Medicine in Athens University Medical School. She has also collaborated with INSERM in Paris and the Cardiovascular Research Institute of Maastricht (CARIM) at the University of Maastricht. She has participated as a senior researcher in many National and European research programs such as the “Preclinical Athersclerosis in Chronic Disease with Inflammation (ACDI study), the Healthy Growth Study, FP7: ToyBox-study, the HORIZON 2020 Feel4Diabetes-study and the HORIZON 2020 GATEKEEPER study. Her research interests focus on the effects of diet and lifestyle on vascular function, preclinical atherosclerosis, hypertension and cardiometabolic diseases. She is also interested in the associations of obesity with vascular function. Finally she is investigating childhood obesity and dietary and lifestyle determinants of childhood hypertension.

She has received scholars and awards from the Hellenic Society of Cardiology, the Hellenic Society of Lipidology and Atherosclerosis and the Hellenic Medical Association. She is a guest editor and member of the editorial board in 3 scientific journals, she is an author of more than 50 articles in peer-reviewed journals and of several chapters in scientific books and a reviewer in more than 15 scientific journals.
